The smartphone battle currently taking place is mainly seen between Apple and Samsung, but Nokia is looking to enter the battle with their Lumia 920.

Nokia unveiled the Lumia 920 last week and according to Reuters will have a November release date. The Verge added that the release date will fall on Nov. 2.

But will the new Nokia smartphone rival Samsung's Galaxy S3?

Display/Screen:

The Nokia Lumia 920 is measured with a 4.5-inch screen, resolution of 1,280x768, and weighs 185g. For Samsung, their Galaxy S3 device features a bigger screen but just 0.3-inches bigger at 4.8-inches. The resolution stands at 1,280x720, and weighs less at 133g.

Another difference is the display type, with the Galaxy S3 offering the Super AMOLED HD display, while the Lumia 920 has the PureMotion HD+ display.

Advantage: Samsung Galaxy S3

Photography Camera:

When it comes to cameras, Nokia might have the advantage here. The rear-facing camera comes in with 8.7-megapixels and a resolution of 3,264x2,448 while the Galaxy S3 enters with only eight-megapixels but the same number of resolution at 3,264x2,448.

The secondary camera for the Samsung device has 1.9-megapixels while Nokia's is slightly lower at 1.3-megapixels.

Advantage: TIE (Lumia 920 wins for the rear-facing camera, but the Galaxy S3's front-facing camera proves better).

Memory:

The Galaxy S3 offers a card slot for the micro SD and up to 64GB, while the Lumia 920 does not offer a card slot.

For internal storage, the Galaxy S3 offers 16, 32, and 64 GB storage and a 1GB RAM, while the Lumia 920 also offers 1GB RAM but only the 32GB option is available, at least at this time.

Advantage: Samsung Galaxy S3 (close decision but variety in GB storage for the Galaxy S3 give customers an option).

Battery (mAh/Standby/Talk Time):

When it comes to the battery capacity, the higher the mAh, then the "stronger" and "healthier" it will be, according to Webopedia. For the Lumia 920, the mAh stands at 2,000 mAh, while the Galaxy S3 measures at a slightly higher mAh of 2,100.

Standby time is in Samsung's favor, with the Galaxy S3 taking up to 790 hours for 3G, while Lumia last up to 400 hours. Talk time is also in Samsung's favor at 11.4 hours and Lumia 920 with up to 10 hours.

Advantage: Samsung Galaxy S3

Networks:

Both devices are available in 2G and 3G but in following the latest trends it will have 4G LTE.

Advantage: TIE (Although it will depend on the mobile carrier and their coverage in 4G).

Wireless Connectivity:

The Lumia 920 and Galaxy S3 have Near Field Communication (NFC), WLAN at 802.11 a/b/g/n, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. In regards to the Bluetooth, however, the Galaxy S3 offers with the 4.0 version while Lumia 920 starts with the 3.1 version.

Advantage: TIE (Slightly in favor of the Galaxy S3 due to the latest Bluetooth version).

Processor:

Nokia will continue with the Snapdragon with the S4. The type of processor in the Lumia 920 is the dual-core 1.5GHz. The Galaxy S3 has the Exynos 4412 quad-core at 1.4GHz Cortex-A9.

Operating System:

The mobile operating system (OS) for the Lumia 920 will have Microsoft's Windows Phone 8, and the Galaxy S3 features the Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Both offer different features, tough decision to call.

Colors:

Unlike Apple's iPhone 5, there are more color options for both the Galaxy S3 and Lumia 920. The Samsung device offers customers pebble blue, marble white, amber brown, garnet red, sapphire black, and titanium gray. The Lumia 920 puts it simple with black, gray, red, yellow, and white.

Advantage: Samsung Galaxy S3 (Although Samsung tries to put fancier names like amber and titanium, they offer an additional color that Nokia doesn't, with blue).

Overall

It seems the Galaxy S3 offers more to the consumer.  Ultimately, it is up to you to decide.
