Google Maps has issued a new update for Android customers just as Apple users are figuring out how to use the iOS 6 new Apple Maps.

Following fallout in negotiations between Google and Apple, the latter decided to not add YouTube onto the latest mobile operating system (OS) and eliminate Google Maps.

Apple decided to go original and create Apple Maps as the replacement of the Google Maps, and reviews for Apple Maps have not been 100 percent positive.

The Google Maps update for Android customers will allow access from your desktop and your mobile to sync its search histories through My Places. A new single-handed zoom is introduced and can be done by double tap, then hold down your finger, and slide to zoom.

Customer reviews on Google Play has been positive so far:

Helen: Love the widget for instant traffic update on my daily journey. Love the functionality in the maps app. Jury is still out re Navigation; great for planning ahead, not so great live en route.

Kevin: One handed zoom is awesome! Patent it quick before Apple invents it for the first time ever in the world...

Krystofer: Everything works perfect! I am glad Google put "some" good thoughts into this update. 5 stars when the map rendering can happen accurately without the WiFi on!

Google Maps also features detailed maps with 3D buildings, live traffic information, and Street View which reviewers have complained is noticeably absent when Apple created Apple Maps, namely from MacStories' Federico Viticci.

Viticci reviewed, "In my opinion, iOS 6 has, right now, worse Maps and App Store search; especially for Maps, if you rely on features like Street View and public transit directions, I can't recommend the update until an official Google Maps app comes out."

Google has reportedly created a new Google Maps app for the iOS 6 and are awaiting Apple's approval. Latinos Post will follow up on the Google Maps app for iOS 6 once Apple makes their decision.
