Reports are saying that Motorola is set to offer a new cheap but decent smartphone, the Moto E Second Generation.

According to The Fuse Joplin, the Moto E is considered as the "cheapest" Motorola phone out in the market.

This move to revamp the Moto E smartphone might be Motorola's strategy to get more users shift to their brand. Christian Today noted that Motorola has been known for revamping and improving its current products that have already been doing well. This includes Moto X and Moto G which both had second generation versions.

How will the new Moto E Second Generation look like?

Design

The Fuse Joplin said that the Moto E second generation would probably look like the original version. However, it is expected that the new device would get several upgrades. For instance, the display is seen to be upgraded into 4.5 inches screen with 960 x 540 pixels. Improvements in the resolution are also being eyed. Although the new Moto E is not that thin, users can still manage to hold it as it offers a better grip.

Camera

Christian Today said the device will feature a 5 megapixel camera with no LED flash.

Processor and OS

The second generation Moto E is expected to get a 1.19 GHz Snapdragon 400 or Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor. As for the OS, it is expected to get the newly released Android 5.0 Lollipop update.

The original Moto E's processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 with 1.2GHz dual-core A7 CPU with Adreno 302 400MHz single-core GPU, Motorola's website revealed.

Storage

The new device is expected to get a 1 GB RAM. It is still unknown whether the device will allow a microSD card but The Fuse Joplin said it expects that it will come in an 8GB storage, which is twice the memory of its older brother, Moto E first generation. It also expects that is supports external storage. It added that it is expected that the second generation Moto E will support 4G / LTE networks.

To note, the original Moto E has a MicroSD card slot which extends up to 32 GB.

Price and Release Date

It is still unknown how much the new device costs but it is expected that it will be sold for a "very low price." The original Moto E currently costs $120.

"If the second generation is close to that mark, or a bit more expensive, Motorola might have a winning device," The Fuse Joplin said.

The release date of the device is also still unknown. To date, Motorola has not confirmed any of these rumors.
