Speculations have it that the fifth installment to the "Transformers" movie franchise will be crossed over with the "G.I. Joe" film series, thus opening the possibility that Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Bruce Willis will likely join the movie.

"Transformers 5" is due to hit theaters on June 24, 2016.

"Some might say that Dwayne Johnson and Bruce Willis could be setting up a crossover with 'G.I. Joe' in 'Transformers 5.' Rumors have been swirling around that idea for a while now, and it would make sense if they're true," notes the Inquisitr.

The Rock has been regarded as the crowd-drawer particularly to movie franchises that seem to have lost stream in the box office. He was added to "The Mummy Returns" as the Scorpion King, inserted to the 'critically-slammed' "G.I. Joe Retaliation," and gave the "Fast and the Furious" franchise a new adrenaline rush. Thus, it will not come as a big surprise if he pops in to the next "Transformers" movie, details the report.

Air Herald also thinks "The Rock" will be a big help to the "Transformers" franchise.

"It's also perfect timing for both parties. It could be argued that Transformers has peaked in popularity, and Johnson is just the right kind of action star with charisma that could help to reinvigorate it," cites the report.

There were earlier reports that with the departure of Michael Bay from the movie, Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox may be brought back to "breathe new life into the story about robots in disguise", points out the Inquisitr.

But the Air Herald believes otherwise, at least as far as LaBeouf is concerned. The actor's recent brushes with the law and very bizarre public behaviour are certainly not good for the movie's publicity, it noted.

As for Bruce Willis, the report says it is not yet clear what role the veteran Hollywood actor would play in the movie. But if it's true that "Transformers 5" will be crossed with "G.I. Joe," then Willis will play a lead role.

Since reports coming in about the movie are still unconfirmed and thus are merely rumors, the Inquisitr also stated that another possibility that "The Rock" and Bruce Willis could come in to the "Transformers 5" are as voice actors.

Just like a Pixar film, the "Transformers" franchise has built a roster of big name voice actors starting with John Goodman as Hound, Leonard Nimoy as Sentinel Prime, Jackie Chan impersonator as Drift among several others, notes the article.

In terms of the movie's plot, the Inquisitr also got wind of a report that a new group of Autobots and Decepticons will be on their way to earth including Ultra Magnus and Cyclonus.

Enstars seems to have confirmed the plot, when it hinted of a story centering on beast wars that will have Optimus Prime looking for his marker in space while the Maximals and the Predacons fight on earth.
