Immediately after his victory over Chris Algieri last Nov. 23, Manny Pacquiao called on Floyd Mayweather Jr. to finally accept his challenge and decide who between the two of them should be rightfully crowned the pound-for-pound king.
But instead of coming out and accepting Pacman's latest challenge, Money posted an Instagram video which shows Pacquiao getting decked by Juan Manuel Marquez during their fourth fight last Dec. 2012 to the tune of Queen's "Another One Bites the Dust" song.
During a press conference upon his return to the Philippines with the usual hero's welcome and motorcade to celebrate his latest victory over Algieri, Pacquiao responded to Floyd's latest taunt on Instagram, reports SB Nation.
"He should fight me now, since I can be easily put to sleep. He posted a video of me when I lost to Marquez, so this means he thinks I'm easy to knock out. So come on, let's fight!" Pacquiao states, posing yet again his latest challenge to Mayweather who has been uncharacteristically silent after Manny's very convincing win over the American boxer.
The blockbuster bout has been in the works since 2009 that it somehow lost its steam among boxing aficionados especially when pundits noticed that Mayweather seems to be eluding the fight with Pacquiao to keep his unbeaten slate perfect until he hang up his boxing gloves.
SB Nation stated that there is now a renewed optimism that the fight will finally happen since parties of both sides are now striving doubly hard to make it happen.
"If all goes to plan and Pacquiao gets his wish, the Filipino states that he wants the bout to happen during the first half of 2015," cites the SB Nation report.
The latest statement of the Filipino boxing icon seems to hint that negotiations for the mega-fight are already close to being a done deal.
ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith believes that the blockbuster fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. will happen before the summer of 2015.
Contrary to majority of perceptions that Mayweather is avoiding the Pacman, Smith says that Money is not afraid of fighting Pacquiao and thinks there are just other reasons why the two boxers have not met each other in the ring, reports Epoch Times.
"I had somebody that's connected to Floyd Mayweather's. People tell me that Floyd offered Bob Arum $10 million to essentially step out of the way. So clearly this is about Arum and not about Manny Pacquiao," Smith revealed.
"If Floyd was scared, he wouldn't be doing such things. I don't believe that he's scared. But I do believe the pressure is mounting for Mayweather," the ESPN analyst added.
