Samsung Galaxy S5 users will now just have to wait a month or so to get the new Android L 5.0 Lollipop update.

Although Samsung has not yet released any announcement about the Lollipop update, many speculations and rumors about which phones will get the update have continuously circulated.

To date, the only Samsung gadget confirmed to get the Lollipop update is the Galaxy Note 4. In a Twitter post last October, Samsung hinted that the Galaxy Note 4 will get the Lollipop update. The company relayed the message through a photo showing a Galaxy Note 4 that has a wallpaper of three swirled lollipops with the caption, "Anyway you look at it, the #GALAXYNote4 Quad HD Super AMOLED display is pretty sweet. #NoteTheDifference."

The International Business Times earlier reported that Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy S4, and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 are expected to get the Lollipop update in January next year. But another website, Sam Mobile, predicted that it will be earlier, maybe in December this year. Sam Mobile even made exclusive preview videos to give a glimpse of how will the Android 5.0 Lollipop update look like on the Samsung Galaxy S5.

In a separate report, it was noted that Sprint will definitely be the first carrier to release the Lollipop update since it was the first carrier to release the Galaxy S4 KitKat update before.

As for the Samsung Galaxy S4, NDTV Gadgets reported that users may also get the new operating system next year, noting of "Google's 18-month update guarantee period." Samsung S4 earlier had two previous Android versions Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and Android 4.4 KitKat.
