On Sunday, Bubba Watson walked out as champion from the 2012 Masters Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club after two sudden-death playoff holes against Louis Oosthuizen, the runner-up from South Africa.
This year's Masters will be remembered not only for Watson's "miracle" shot--a curve shot he took behind a tree and miraculously landed on the green within 10 feet of the hole--but the many surprises that came up during the four-day event including Stenson's disastrous quadruple-bogey after leading through in the first round, Michelson's triple-bogey on a par-3 hole, Oosthuizen's two eagles on a par-5 hole, and finally two hole-in-ones by Bo Van Pelt and Adam Scott.
Angel Cabrera, the Masters 2009 Champion from Argentina in addition to two other players with Spanish as their mother tongue, or in this case, Latino, had trouble to shine in the event.
Cabrera started off well in the 1st round but hit a triple-bogey on the 12th hole (par 3) of the second round to finish with 78 strokes. He would eventually end T32.
Sergio Garcia and Miguel Angel Jimenez from Spain, the two other Latino players, ended in the 12th and 56th position respectively.
Latinos have had their shares of victories in previous Masters tournaments. Jose Maria Olazabal from Spain was champion in 1994 and 1999, and, of course, Angel Cabrera in 2009.
