Since "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" released earlier in November 2014, players have been complaining about several bugs, especially in multiplayer matchmaking.

In a report by Kotaku.com, 343 Industries, developers of Halo, introduced a patch, saying that it would fix the connectivity and matchmaking problems in the pack. However, it did not solve plenty of the common issues such as freezing and being trapped in queues.

Irish Examiner reported that Master Chief Collection was intended to be a great offer for Halo enthusiasts, featuring a compilation of Halo remakes and providing best value because of its reasonable price. When the package was released on November 11, 2014, 343 Industries intended to celebrate the Master Chief's debut on Xbox One as well as pay tribute to Halo fans on a global scale.

On November 24, Bonnie Ross apologized on HaloWaypoint.com, "We have not delivered the experience you deserve. I personally apologize for this on behalf of us all at 343 Industries."

He also explained on HaloWaypoint.com that their team is working around the clock to resolve the various issues and that they are making continual improvements towards solutions. He wrote, "My commitment to you is that we will take care of all owners of Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Our primary and continued focus is first on fixing the issues at hand. Once we've done that, we will detail how we will make this right with our fans."

Ross continued to state that they discovered unexpected problems that were not seen during their internal test environment, which led to the current dilemma. He said that they are collaborating with the Xbox platform team to sort out all the data and to constantly make adjustments. They are also giving more content updates that will boost overall experience. 343 Industries is reportedly making multiple server-side tweaks and updates on game content, which will be available in the next few weeks. Gamers will constantly be updated on the developments and fixes as these become available, based on a report by Metro.

In an article on the Irish Examiner, Halo fans were quick to vent out their frustrations over the existing problems. Some posted memes of the current issues while others accepted the apology and warned 343 Industries about the dangers of releasing an unfinished game.

343 Industries did post that they will make it right for the fans afterwards. Kotaku.com predicted that such could mean free games, no more problems in the upcoming Halo 5 in 2015 and even refunds.
