'Uncharted' Movie Release Date, Cast & Trailer: Chris Pratt as Nathan Drake?

Fans of the action-adventure third person shooter video game "Uncharted," developed by Naughty Dog, now have two things to look forward to.

The first is the likely release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" exclusively on PlayStation 4 come the summer of 2015, and the second is a movie about the video game due to hit the theaters sometime in the second half of 2016.

Ecumenical News reports that sometime in July, Sony Computer Entertainment, the publisher of the successful video game franchise, has disclosed that the "Uncharted" movie will have a June 2016 playdate.

But the movie was eventually rescheduled to a later release date notwithstanding that the slot was previously occupied by Marvel's "Amazing Spider Man 3," added the report.

Cast and Trailer

The Fuse Joplin has reported that the early stages or preparation for the filming of "Uncharted" has already begun but the lead actor who shall play the role of Nathan Drake has yet to be named.

High in contention to get the part of Nathan Drake is Chris Pratt, who shot to fame because of his excellent performance in Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" shown in July, added the report.

But it appears that Pratt is not interested in playing the part of Nathan Drake so the producers are now seriously looking for an actor who shall play the part. It was also said that the role was first offered to Mark Wahlberg, who passed up on it, according to Ecumenical News.

"Sony still needs to find its leading man for the film before it can move forward. Mark Wahlberg had been attached but eventually moved on. More recently, the studio made offer to Chris Pratt, but he passed," states The Hollywood Reporter in a November 12 article.

Pratt may have turned down the offer as he will also play the lead role in an upcoming "Jurassic World" movie due in theaters next year, hints The Fuse Joplin.

For now, what the producers of "Uncharted" movie can confirm is that they have reportedly signed Oscar-winning writer Mark Boal to write the screenplay and Seth Gordon to direct the film, states the Ecumenical News.

Mark Boal has been the critically-acclaimed scriptwriter of "The Hurt Locker" and "Zero Dark Thirty." Seth Gordon, on the other hand, has "Horrible Bosses" to his directorial credit, details the report.

Boal said the he is a fan of the video game and can't wait to play "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" when it officially launches next year on PS4.

"That's good news because when people who love games are on board, it definitely creates a great potential for a great movie," states The Fuse Joplin.

A trailer for the "Uncharted" movie has yet to be completed.
