The long wait is finally over. The new Android L 5.0 Lollipop has started rolling out.

"#AndroidLollipop rollout has started and will soon be available on most #Nexus devices. Dessert is served," Android announced on Twitter on Wednesday.

Latinos Post earlier reported that the launch of the new Android update on Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 have been delayed to November 12 due to some bug problems. And as promised, the new Lollipop update will now be hitting these Nexus phones.

This confirms the statement of Artem Russakovskii of Android Police who earlier revealed the official date for its release. BGR quoted Russakovskii saying, "Hey guys, I just got word from one of our tipsters that the first OTAs or over-the-air updates got delayed due to some outstanding bugs. It is now currently scheduled for the 12th [of November]."

The Verge said that users of Nexus 4, Nexus 5, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10 are now expected to get the Lollipop update via over-the-air (OTA) or they can just download the factory images from Google Nexus.

Earlier, it was also announced that the LG G3 will get the Lollipop update this week.

"LG Electronics (LG) this week will begin rolling out the highly anticipated Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade for G3 smartphones starting in Poland this week, to be followed by other key markets in the near future. LG, the first global smartphone manufacturer to offer the Lollipop upgrade in 2014, will subsequently announce an upgrade schedule for other LG mobile devices," LG said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the new 6-inch Nexus 6 packed with Quad HD display and a 13 megapixel camera and the 8.9 inch Nexus 9 tablet are expected to be out in the market with the new Lollipop update installed, Google said on its blog.

Android has already announced on its website what features will be included in the new Lollipop update. Some of these new features are:

New battery save feature

Android said that phones that will get the update will enjoy longer battery life. The update can extend the use of the device by at least an hour and a half. Also, it will now allows users to see more detailed information about charging. Users can now track and see how much time is needed to charge the phone and how much time is left before it drains out.

More secured

Phones will be more secured with the new lock methods.

Control notifications

Incoming calls or texts will no longer distract users who watch videos or play games as there are now new ways to control these notifications. Turning on the Priority Mode will now limit incoming notifications to certain people.

More languages

New additional languages will also be included in the new OS update. Users can now choose from the almost 70 languages it has.

Device Sharing

The new update will now allow several users to share one phone without sharing files. Also, users can now use other Android phones that have the new Lollipop update to view and check their files.

Other phones expected to get the update include Sony Xperia Z series and several Motorola, Samsung and HTC phones.
