Apple Watch Release Date, Features & Price: Launch Set for Spring 2015?

During the launching of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus on September 9, Apple has also announced that the Apple Watch will hit the market in early 2015.

There was no specific date mentioned for the Apple Watch launching, thus setting the rumor mill in motion.

Everything was just reduced to speculations regarding the Apple Watch official release date until 9to5mac stumbled upon a transcript of the video message of an Apple retail executive to retail employees just recently.

In her message, Apple Senior Vice President of Retail and Online Stores Angela Ahrendts hinted that the Apple Watch will be launched in Spring 2015, notes the report.

9to5mac said that Ahrendts was encouraging Apple retail employees to conserve their energies for the upcoming shopping seasons.

She was even quoted as saying: "We're going into the holidays, we'll go into Chinese New Year, and then we've got a new watch to launch coming in the spring."

"The more precise timeline is still in line with Apple's original statement at the Apple Watch announcement of early next year. This also indicates that the device would not be coming anytime in the winter months," opines MSN News.

Features and Price

Apple describes the Apple Watch as a precise timepiece that keeps a user on schedule and connected. The device is also a health and fitness companion to keep a user physically fit and active.

"All watches tell time. This one helps you make the most of it," is how Apple intends to market the Apple Watch to the public.

"It is more than just a watch but it is precisely what we think a watch should be," the American tech giant adds.

9to5mac also detailed how Apple initially planned to roll out the Apple Watch in the Fall of this year but due to some engineering difficulties, the official release date was deferred to next year.

There were reports that a kink in the device's battery system was the cause of the delay but the company has already addressed the issue. Apple had to as Tim Cook promised that the Apple Watch could last all day while getting charged each night, 9to5 noted.

Apple insiders said that the company's problem now, albeit already minor, is how to rapidly charge the inductive MagSafe charging system of the Apple Watch, at far less time than an overnight charging, the report added.

Consistent with the announcement of Apple about the price of the Apple Watch, it will retail for $349 once it officially hit the market in Spring 2015.
