If you've got a Google Nexus 7 here's some good news: Google's willing to give you $10 just for owning the tablet.

The $10 incentive is to try and get people to sign up for a prepaid card through Google's mobile payment service, Google Wallet. The offer will end on September 17, as Google Wallet moves away from prepaid cards now that the payment system accepts major credit cards.

Blog Android Power describes how you can take advantage of the offer:

- Open up the Wallet app on your Nexus 7 (it's preloaded on the tablet; just look for the Wallet icon in your app drawer).

- Follow the instructions to link the app to your Google account and set up a PIN. It may take a minute or two for the service to initialize.

- Once you're at the main Wallet screen, tap "Payment Cards" and select the option to add a Google prepaid card.

You will have to use the $10 within a month, however.

And there's more good news. The offer doesn't just apply to the Google Nexus 7 tablet - it's valid on any Android system, except that the $10 will be device specific to the device it was created through.

Wireless payments are emerging as a larger market as other companies like Square and even Apple are looking to replace consumers' traditional wallets.

Google will be looking to draw attention back to its Nexus 7 tablet as competitors begin releasing their budget tablets this fall with possibly more promotions. Amazon has already announced the also-$199-priced 7-inch Amazon Kindle Fire HD that will begin rolling out in late September. Apple is also expected to unveil an iPad Mini sometime in October.
