In "Taken 3," Liam Neeson's character is the criminal. Or so he's been framed to be.

The new trailer for the action movie first shows former CIA operative Bryan Mills (Neeson) reconciling with his ex-wife Lenore (Famke Janssen). However, what promised to be a rosy beginning went awry -- she was found murdered in bed, with Mills accused as her killer, Us Weekly noted.

"Authorities are seen filing into his home shortly after Mills discovers his love's body, and he realizes that he's been framed for the crime. Neeson's character then goes on a spree to evade police and find his wife's real killers," the publication said.

And so we have "Taken 3," with Neeson letting his weapons and action star skills speak of his explosive anger at the unfortunate turn of events.

"There are things I've done in my life and I was always ready to face the consequences to protect my family," the veteran actor could be heard intoning in the clip, as noted by E! News. "My first priority is to protect the only one I have left."

In this third installment, his daughter, played by Maggie Grace, didn't get "taken" again, although the wife's life was. Given that the theme of the movie appeared to center on Neeson's character ending the series of unfortunate events in part 3's storyline -- with Mills saying "I'm going to finish this!" at one point in the trailer -- audiences seem to be made to understand that there won't be a fourth follow up.

"I don't think there'll be a Taken 3," the Irish thespian confirmed. "[My daughter] can't get taken again. That's just bad parenting."

But then again, if the film proves to be another commercial success, there's no saying no to "Taken 4."

Well, if a part four does happen, Neeson joked that perhaps he'll give his onscreen daughter away this time around. "Taken 4, please take her," he joked, according to Us Weekly.

"Taken and Taken 2 racked up more than $600 million around the globe," the Daily Mail noted. "Liam reportedly earned $20 million for Taken 3; he is thought to have made $1 million for the original."

"Tak3n" will hit theaters on January 9, 2015.

Currently, the 62-year-old is shooting yet another action movie, "Run All Night."

"Neeson plays a hitman forced to battle with his ex-boss in order to protect his estranged son," the British publication said. Looks like he's still game for action-packed roles, despite hitting 60.

The Jaume Collet-Serra-directed movie will reportedly be released April next year.
