It seems like Avril Lavigne should be singing an old song from way back, because there's so much for her happy ending.
After only fourteen months of marriage, it seems like the rocker is ready to call it quits with husband Chad Kroeger, happy ever after be damned.
A source for Us Weekly said, "It's over. He has been going around L.A. telling people that they are divorcing."
Despite the rumored divorce, there was no sign of trouble in their life, with the 29-year-old Lavigne gushing about Kroeger's generous gift: a 17-carat ring he gave her for their anniversary in July.
But actions speak louder than presents, because despite the thousands he spent, telltale signs are all around that things are not as peachy as it seems to be.
According to the Miami Herald, the couple stopped following each other on social media, and Lavigne has been spotted out without the rock.
On August 29, she partied at the Chateau Marmont with her girlfriends, and a source for Hollywoodlife said, "She wasn't wearing the huge diamond rock her husband Chad gave her as a gift on their first wedding anniversary," adding, "She looked like she was having a fun time but it's kind of strange because she hasn't been out in public with Chad for some time now."
It seems like the actual divorce is still a ways away. The source for Hollywoodlife also suggested that the pair is not willing to give up on their marriage so soon, saying that "There's no concrete timeline for divorce right now."
The internet doesn't seem to be shaken up about the divorce though. The Toronto Sun put together a few reactions from Twitter.
A user with the handle @NickBossRoss said, "The break up of Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavgne is the closest thing Canada has had to a civil war."
Another, with the handle @AlisonLeiby jokingly posted, "How are Avril Lavigne and Chad Kroeger going to divide up their assets like leather bracelets?"
User @jkelane even suggested, "Avril Lavigne probably just found her husbands stash of Nickleback songs in the attic and felt lied to."
Neither Avril nor Chad has addressed the rumors, but if true, this is not her first failed marriage. Us Weekly noted that Lavigne was previously married to Deryc Whibley of Sum 41, who she dated since she was 19 and married in 2006. They divorced in September 2009.
