The Cleveland Cavaliers' first game in the 2014-2015 NBA regular season will be against the New York Knicks on October 30. This means that LeBron James will be playing as a Cavalier in their home court against the visiting Carmelo Anthony.

In a report by NJ.com, a source said that the Cavs were supposed to start the season away from home to face San Antonio Spurs, the current champions. However, certain adjustments were made and they will play the Knicks instead. Their second game will be on October 31 against the Chicago Bulls at the United Center in Chicago. After that, the Cavs will go to Portland to face Damian Lilliard and the Trail Blazers.

Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports wrote, "According to the source, the Cavs were initially supposed to open the season on the road against the NBA champion San Antonio Spurs, where James' season and career with the Miami Heat ended. Instead, he and fellow newcomer Kevin Love, who will officially join Cleveland later this month after the trade involving Andrew Wiggins in completed, will play host to New York."

LeBron James and Carmelo Anthony were two of the biggest highlights of the free agent market during the summer, and the two hold the most lucrative contracts in the league. Although there were talks that Carmelo Anthony was joining James to win championship rings together, the Knicks offered Anthony a deal close to $30 million per year for the next five years.

According to Fox Sports, the NBA released its official calendar which includes a longer All-Star break. Before the All-Star break, the Cavaliers will play against the Bulls on February 12, 2015. The regular season will then continue, although two days later than the previous ones.

The 2014-2015 NBA season will officially start on October 28, where the San Antonio Spurs will play against the Dallas Mavericks at the AT&T Center. On the same day, the Houston Rockets will face the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.

James and the Cavs are slated to play against Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat on Christmas Day. There will be five games total played on December 25. The Washington Wizards will play against the New York Knicks, the Oklahoma City Thunder will visit the San Antonio Spurs, the Los Angeles Lakers will play against the Chicago Bulls and the Golden State Warriors will play against the Los Angeles Clippers.
