Floyd Mayweather Jr. fought Marcos Maidana on May 3 for the WBO and WBC welterweight belts, where Mayweather won via majority decision, although unconvincingly. How would a rematch end?

In an article by Bleacher Report, Mayweather vs. Maidana 2 is set for September 13. In an official announcement, the rematch will still be held at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Previously, Mayweather shared, during an interview with LaTen Media, that the rematch will indeed happen next month. He said, "Sept. 13, back in business, Marcos Maidana-Floyd Mayweather, part II. And then in May, I'm fighting in May (15) and I'll have a big surprise for ya'll."

Maidana is also looking forward to his next match with Mayweather. Last July 1, he posted on Twitter: "REMATCH in the talks. Respect for @FloydMayweather man of his word, yet only fist talk in the ring. #LATINPOWER".

In their last bout, Mayweather won by a close margin via majority decision. The undefeated champion said that Maidana earned his respect as a fighter but he is more tactical and a better counterpuncher. The close call will more likely motivate Mayweather to train harder and win more convincingly. He is expected to be aggressive and dominant in the rematch, to show fans that he is the deserving winner.

Maidana did show that he is a threat to Mayweather and that the champion may finally have someone worthy to fight in terms of style. Maidana was aggressive in May and did not allow Mayweather to command the pace of the fight, as he always did.

According to Bad Left Hook, although Mayweather is one of the most difficult boxers to attack, Maidana showed that he had the style and power to penetrate, landing solid body shots that obviously affected the champion. Floyd is expected to make major adjustments in his style and dominate the pace in their next fight. Fans speculate that the second match will not be as close as the first, with Mayweather ending as the clear cut winner.

In a report by East Side Boxing, Mayweather is already 37 years old but he still has the ability to bring in huge cash regardless of who he fights, so he may stick with challengers who will most likely keep him undefeated until he retires. A fight with Manny Pacquiao, although a lucrative deal, is not realistic from a career standpoint.

The fight will be shown live on pay-per-view and tickets will be available in the following weeks.
