5 Seconds Of Summer will be performing at the MTV Video Music Awards soon, and they have something up their sleeves that will surely delight their fans. Will it involve a nude performance, perhaps?

The more appropriate question fans should be asking is how much skin will the boys from down under show to dethrone Miley Cyrus as the wildest performer not only television, but of all time?

If one needs to recall Cyrus' performance, she famously twerked her perky derriere on Robin Thicke's, um, frontal area, as the male singer joined her in a duet. We don't really have to describe how Cyrus used a foam finger, which is famously used in sports games, during that shocking performance.

The band, who has been nominated for Artist To Watch at this year's VMAs, shared their plans for their Red Carpet entrance. And boy, are they planning something outrageous, MTV.com reported.

Sugarscape, who quoted the boys in a special video, noted that Michael Clifford first posed the all-important question. He asked," "How nude are you allowed to be at the VMAs?"

Luke Hemmings, seemed to think of what the Red Hot Chili Peppers did in their much younger days, teased that they could come on the red carpet with just socks on their private parts.

"What can we do...like just a sock? We're just gonna wear socks?" Hemmings asked.

Ashton Irwin added, "Just a singular sock."

They must've been joking, but we'll know in a few days.

Despite being labeled as the next big thing after One Direction, the Australian boy band's latest comments seemed to have projected them as an "approachable" punk band. Nonetheless, the music magazine said the boys are not worried about being associated with perhaps the biggest boyband in the planet. The boys, who open for 1D at the sold-out, 80,000 seater San Siro Stadium, are eager to promote their long-awaited, self-titled album, and the platform that they share with the British boyband would be a big step for them to get their own brand of music to listeners.

Clifford said during an interview with Billboard, with matching mock earnestness, "Please buy our album. Listen to me, please, we're not a boy band!"

Irwin added, "Some people think, ‘Oh, they're just another boy band. They'll have a thing and then disappear.' But we're challenging that thought. We're so proud of the music we make -- we love it -- and we're fearless. If anyone puts us down, we don't care. Isn't that somewhat punk -- not giving a damn what people say?"

The 2014 MTV VMAs will be shown live on Sunday, August 24 on the music channel.
