A PS4 movie is making its way to the big screen as "Uncharted" is set to begin filming in 2015. Seth Gordon, the director, spoke to Zap2It, confirming plans to begin shooting. However, a lead star hasn't been cast yet.

The Horrible Bosses director said about filming, "I think very early next year. That's the plan," he said. "It's going to honor the mythology of the game, but I would say honor some of the most interesting stuff from the first one and build from there. There's some stuff that isn't in the game."

He explained, "I love the complexity and frankly the sophistication of the storytelling in the game, and we aspire to that--but don't want to tell the exact same story, of course--so something that doesn't break the rules of what it did but expands. Because I feel like the people who play the games and know them well don't want to just see the same story told. You want extra shades."

Who will step in for the lead role of Nathan Drake? Mark Wahlberg has backed out, reports say.

"I want it to be a great actor. That's number one, and then if it's someone who has an actual jaw, that's even better. The game is so well done that you need it to live up to that. There's no way we'd do the inverse of that where it's somebody famous who can't [act]," Gordon said.

Hopefully, the movie will materialize. It was first announced in 2009, but plans seemed to fall apart, repeatedly, and not just because Wahlberg withdrew from the picture. According to Gamespot.com, when David O. Russell was set to direct the film, a slew of names were brought up to star in the movie, including Robert DeNiro, Amy Adams, and Scarlett Johansson.

When Russell dropped out as director in 2011, Neil Burger was attached to the project, but then, he left in 2012, and Gordon took over.

A multitude of writers were also supposed to do the script, including Marianne and Cormac Wibberley of "National Treasures" and Thomas Dean Donnelly of "Conan the Barbarian." A developer even asked Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg to write the film, but was turned down.

Should this movie really push through, it will be a while before it makes the silver screen. Meanwhile, the next game in the "Uncharted" series is in the works for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End."
