Khloe Kardashian Ex- Lamar Odom Dropped by Knicks; NBA Trade Unlikely

Former Lakers forward, Lamar Odom, has been out of the NBA spotlight for a few years. He was supposedly given a chance to return to the league and play for the New York Knicks but he apparently did something wrong, resulting to his being axed by the team.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Odom signed a deal to play with the Knicks last April 2014. However, drug abuse issues began to surface and circulate, causing the franchise to drop him. Khloe Kardashian's estranged husband failed to meet the franchise requirements so they had no other option but to remove him from the list. Odom's comeback depended heavily on his close relationship with former coach, Phil Jackson. He has struggled in the sport with more out-of-court troubles after he divorced Kardashian in December 2013. A trade is also very unlikely to happen.

Phil Jackson, president of the Knicks, said on July 11, "Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to uphold the standards to return as an NBA player. We found it necessary to free up the roster spot."

In a report by Mail Online, a source said that Odom's wife filed for divorce because of his drug use and infidelity. He was supposed to be on the road to redemption when he first started discussing his professional future with Jackson. The Knicks were supposed to give him a "real" shot, but he threw the opportunity away. Fans hoped that Odom would return to top form and dedicate himself to training as soon as he signed with the Knicks, but it seemed that he was only half interested.

No other NBA team has expressed their interest in the 6'10" former NBA Sixth Man of the Year. He played seven seasons with the Lakers, then transferred to the Dallas Mavericks and finally to the Los Angeles Clippers before entering free agency in July 2013. He also played in the Spanish ACB League after but suffered from back problems. He was signed by the Knicks during the 2013-2014 season but did not appear in any of the games.

US Magazine writes that it is apparent that Odom has not gotten over his issues and is frequently troubled whenever he is linked with his former wife. Kardashian, on the other hand, appeared very happy as of late and has been seen several times with rapper, French Montana. Kardashian and Montana are said to be planning to have a baby soon.
