"Frozen" has expanded its reach to the world of gaming. But there's no word yet on whether there indeed will be a part 2 of the hit Disney flick.

No, there is no "Frozen" game just yet, but there will soon be a batch of limited edition PlayStation 4 "embossed with your favorite characters," Mashable said.

"The black console features a laser stencil of Elsa and Anna from Disney flick on the top, along with the 'Frozen' logo and several snowflakes," the tech news site reported. "The special edition is being released July 16 and will be priced at 42,980 yen (about $424). The traditional version of the PS4 sells for $390 in Japan."

However, the said consoles will only be available in Japan. Currently, there are still no plans announced regarding an international release.

Why this selective selling and only make this available in one country? Although Sony is mum on the subject, GameSpot seems to have the answer.

"They didn't say, but it probably has something to do with the fact that 'Frozen' was number one at the Japanese box office for sixteen straight weeks, only to be recently dethroned by another Disney movie, 'Maleficent,'" the gaming news source pointed out.

According to Yahoo! News, Sayaka Kanda, a Palme d'Or winner, provided Anna's voice in the Japanese edition of the movie. Takako Matsu, who won a Japan Academy Prize, took charge of Queen Elsa's voice.

"A Japanese theatrical take of $242 million puts it on course to overtake the $258m of "Titanic" and become Japan's second-biggest grosser of all time," the site said. It is behind Hayao Miyazaki's "Spirited Away," the highly-acclaimed cult favorite animated Japanese film.

Meanwhile, Variety repored that the movie's DVD and Blu-Ray's release will also likely smash revenue records in Japan. "Walt Disney Studio Japan began taking pre-orders for a DVD and Blu-ray 'Frozen' package under its MovieNEX label on May 30, with release scheduled for July 16," the publication said. "In the first ten days, pre-orders zoomed to 400,000 and by July 6 had soared to 1.15 million - the most ever for any Disney title in Japan."

No wonder Sony decided to give the greenlight on "Frozen"-themed PlayStation 4 consoles, although this is not the first time the tech company has launched limited edition models.

"Versions of PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable were sold with Final Fantasy designs, among others. However, a Disney theme differs widely from those of the past, which have been centered primarily on gaming," Mashable observed.

We won't be surprised if we see such consoles selling at least double the price on various sites online after the July 16 release. Will you buy one when that happens?
