The highly anticipated 2012 Video Music Awards is taking place during the evening of September 6, and the show has already awarded several artists with the music media company's iconic 'moonman' award.
Winners of the night include One Direction who won BEST POP VIDEO with "What Makes you Beautiful and Chris Brown who was awarded the BEST MALE VIDEO award with "Turn Up the Music."
Other winners include Coldplay's "Paradise" for BEST ROCK VIDEO, Drake f/ Lil Wayne's "HYFR" for BEST HIP-HOP VIDEO, Nicki Minaj's "Starship" won BEST FEMALE VIDEO and the following:
BEST NEW ARTIST - One Direction "What Makes You Beautiful"
BEST VIDEO WITH A MESSAGE - Demi Lovato "Skyscraper"
BEST ELECTRONIC DANCE MUSIC VIDEO - Calvin Harris "Feel So Close"
MOST SHARE-WORTHY VIDEO - One Direction "What Makes You Beautiful"
Some highlights of the night include the trailer debut of the final prequel of the "Breaking Dawn" movie series, Rihanna's 'Cockiness' Remix Debut and her sexy VMA performance as well as Kevin Hart (host) making 'mistakes' in the opening monologue.
MTV announced on Tuesday the contents of the coveted gift bags/hand outs to musical guests and celebrities participating in the show. These include a two-night stay at their choice of Andaz Hotels, a Bombay Sapphire drinking glass and necklace, iPhone 4/4s cases, makeup from Covergirl, a candle from Crabtree & Evelyn, a bottle of fragrance from Lacoste, a free two-year membership to Netflix, clothing from Nikki Rich, vintage belts from Robbie French Designs, messenger bags from Timbuk2 and much more.
