Shailene Woodley, star of the hit Hollywood films "Divergent" and "The Fault In Our Stars," seems to have everything going for her in 2014--except for one thing. The Hollywood actress everybody is fawning over in the past months, who was set to appear in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", was cut from the film in the final version.

Was she pissed off? In an interview with Vanity Fair, Woodley admitted being disappointed with the decision. The 22-year-old California-born actress had actually already filmed some scenes in her character as Mary Jane Watson, one of Peter Parker's most meaningful love interests, but production had ultimately decided to skip it.

"For a few hours, it was literally like, 'Oh my god, was I awful? Why did they cut me? What are people going to think?'" she said in that interview.

But the disappointment didn't last long, she said. "I woke up the next morning and I was like, 'O.K. it makes total sense.' I'm a pretty spiritual person, so I can just sit back and trust that everything happens for a reason, even if my ego doesn't like it."

In an article on Movies.com, "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" director Marc Webb explained why she was taken out, citing issues on the flow of the story itself and that it didn't feel right to place Mary Jane Watson on the scene right after what happened with Gwen Stacey.

"The relationship between them [Peter and Gwen] is so sacred and so powerful, that it just didn't feel right. And it sucks because Shailene is such a f--king great actress and so cool and magical but it was just about having this obligation to this romance that I thought was sacred. It was just one of those things," said Webb.

Whether Shailene Woodley will still be back for future Spider-Man 2 films, Webb gave a vague answer, noting that the "Divergent" filming schedule could be a conflict. The first film in the "Divergent" franchise was a massive hit and Woodley is still set to star in two to three more sequels. Divergent is directed by Neil Burger and also stars Kate Winslet, Tony Goldwyn, Zoe Kravitz, Maggie Q, Ashley Judd, Ben Lamb.

In an interview wth Entertainment Weekly, Woodley said: "Of course I'm bummed. But I am a firm believer in everything happening for a specific reason." She added, "Based on the proposed plot, I completely understand the need for holding off on introducing [Mary Jane] until the next film."
