For years, fans have been clamoring for a super fight between Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao and undefeated American Floyd Mayweather, Jr. There is another glimpse of hope that it may indeed happen - in Dubai.

In a report by ABS-CBN news, Prince Amir Shafipour was allowed to work with a major boxing promoter in the United States. The Royal Family and President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) approved future discussions to host the big fight in Dubai. According to Prince Amir Shafipour, who represents Golden Cage Events and Promotions, they have the right people as well as the money to negotiate and make the dream bout happen.

According to Philstar news, Shafipour said, "I will honestly and truthfully tell you that if anyone can convince them to fight, and to fight in Dubai, I can." He added, "I have a lot of worldwide connections, with managers, promoters, fighters, people in the business, who speak the same language that Mayweather and Pacquiao are speaking."

Shafipour and his group are doing a financial assessment and are checking details of the possible fight. He will visit the United States within June 2014 to finalize the negotiations.

He said, "You have to be on the same page as them and only then will you get their attention." He shared that he has already started promoting the fight, "I am currently working with a major boxing promoter in the USA, who is connected to both the Pacquiao and Mayweather camps, and who has the capacity to help me pull this off: It's not a boast, it's a commitment."

The prince explained how his group successfully staged the Global Fighting Championships in Dubai. He said that previous promoters failed to bring the two champions to fight for different reasons. He said he was confident that he has the "formula" to make it happen.

The President and Royal Family were interested in holding the fight in Dubai, to further boost tourism in the country. They aim to make Dubai the number one destination in the Middle East and worldwide when it comes to entertainment and tourism.

Shafipour concluded, "We already have the best horse race, golf and tennis events taking place, what we now need is a fight event that will blow everyone away and that event is Pacquiao vs. Mayweather - and we are going to make it happen," writes Gulf News.
