Apple executives just dropped the biggest hint about the upcoming iWatch during the Apple Worldwide Developers conference in San Francisco, California.

Executives have shown the latest versions of the iOS 8, and they come with features that according to Huffington Post, would work well with a smartwatch.

The report from the post also mentioned that wearable devices are all the rage now, especially those that monitor health, track activity, or check sleep.

Apple also recently got into a health tracking game with a platform, HealthKick, which brings together data from different monitoring devices, sort of like fitness trackers, and syncs with apps from third-party companies.

Craig Federighi, senior vice president of software engineering for Apple said, "We think this is going to be really important for health care."

But why go there when Apple was known for computers and phones, not fitness? Forrester analyst JP Gownder said that in order for a wearable device to be successful in the industry, it has to have an ecosystem of companies and organizations which can work with a device, and that's what Apple is to HealthKick. The involvement of third party companies like Nike, on the other hand, gives the data that will be sent to others.

Morningstar analyst Brian Colello also insisted, "The important thing to consider in wearables is that it has to do more than what your smartphone can do. It can't just be your smartphone on your wrist while your phone is in your purse. That's not enough of a reason to buy a $300 or more device."

They may have dropped a hint, but the iWatch is not going to be released anytime soon, as Gownder refuted the rumors, saying, "Right now they are laying the groundwork, building the infrastructure that will set the stage for the later release of an iWatch."
