The news of the murder of the grupero singer, Tomás Eduardo Tovar Rascón "Tito Torbellino" shocked the Latino community, who died on Thursday on the way to the hospital after being shot by an armed group while he ate at a restaurant in Obregón City, Sonora.

According to ABC.es, the attack happened when the 27-year-old singer from Phoenix, Arizona, was eating in the Red chinese food restaurant on Guerrero street, in fron of Tutuli Plaza in Obregón City, when at around 3:40 p.m., an armed group entered the restaurant and opened fire directly against Tovar Rascón, leaving his companions and the rest of the people present uninjured.

The corridos singer, shot in the head and thorax, was urgently taken to an IMSS hospital in the city; however, he died on the way to the hospital. Hospital doctors confirmed his death.

Grupero Community Mourns the Death of Tito Torbellino

Tito Torbellino's tragic death surprised the grupero community in Mexico, which did not wait to express their indignation and sent supporting messages to his family and friends.

Through their Twitter accounts, celebrities such as Espinoza Paz, the band Los Tucanes de Tijuana, singer Ana Bárbara and Banda Los Recoditos were some of those who sent their condolences for the death of one of the better corrido singers in recent times.

"My artist heart huts, but my mother soul cries, hug your children who mourn your loss the most @_TitoTorbellino2," was the tweet from Ana Bárbara.

"@EspinozaOficial Tito Torbellino R.I.P. .. God keep him in His holy glory :'(" wrote Espinoza Paz.

"#BandaLosRecoditos joins the pain of the family and fans of #TitoElTorbellino we hope they feel better soon RIP," were the wrods from the band in their Facebook page.

Who Was Tito Torbellino?

Tomás Eduardo Tovar Rascón "Tito Torbellino" was a young man from Arizona who had a 14-year long musical career, and in 2002 founded the band "Tito y su Torbellino", a mixture of grupero and banda genres which released 30 albums and singles, among which is "Sólo Corridos", from 2004; according to his official Facebook page.

When he was 14, Tito Torbellino already mastered the accordion, an instrument that accompanied him during his performances, shows which were completed by drums, bass and tuba; managing to fill venues in northern Mexico and the southern United States.

Tito was known for his pro-criminal songs or "narcocorridos" which would make members of drug cartels in Mexico uncomfortable. In 2010 he released the album "La Captura de Alfredo Beltán", an album filled 18 songs dedicated to the arrest of the leader of the Beltrán Leyva brothers cartel, which happened in 2008, according to CNN.
