Last week, we learned that Selena Gomez declared she was "taking her power back" and that she's working on her spiritual and personal growth. Does this mean she's finally, truly, definitely over ex-flame Justin Bieber?

With the way things are going in the past few days, it looks like Sel's true to her words.

Recently, the 21-year-old actress-singer went to Nepal as UNICEF's Ambassador, The Daily Mail reported.

She "spent time with vulnerable children in the country to raise awareness of their needs and also learn about the work of the organization to 'bring education, nutrition, health and protection to those living in extreme poverty.'"

Way to go, Sel! That's a great way to use your time!

In a statement released through UNICEF, the brunette beauty expressed her sentiments about her visit to the Asian country. "This visit to Nepal was extraordinarily powerful - at times, devastating and heartbreaking, but also incredibly inspiring," she said.

"At first when you witness children living in extreme poverty you wonder how it is possible that they can be deprived of their basic human needs and rights. Then you talk to these children and you see hope, promise and a bright future," she continued. "'I'm so proud to serve as a UNICEF Ambassador and be part of a greater movement to help the world's children."

"The children of Nepal have taught me that with a lot of passion, optimism and hard work, anything is possible. That's the message I would like to convey to young people across the world: Believe in your dreams and pursue them."

If this role isn't effective enough to push her beyond her troubled past with JB, we're not sure what else will.

The eye-opening trip to Nepal was already her third outing with the organization. She had been to Ghana and Chile "to meet with young people trying to make a difference," the British publication noted.

While Sel was empowering young people abroad, her own grandparents back home revealed their sentiments about their granddaughter's troubled relationship with Justin.

"We worry...I think she loves him," grandpa Ricardo Gomez told RadarOnline. He also added that "they still go out."

"We [have known] him since he started and he was the real bright young man," Mr. Gomez reflected. "He was just a nice little fella. Totally different from what he is right now...It just makes me feel upset because he used to be a real nice boy."

He also added: "We worry not just because of the relationship with Selena. We worry for him. We hate to see him in trouble."

Interestingly, Mr. Gomez also said that Selena told him and his wife that the reason she didn't want to be with him was because JB was "getting into drugs," which is something the young pop star did not like. However, Mr. Gomez noted that Justin's inner circle considers Sel as a good influence, keeping him "out of the bad habits."

Perhaps he doesn't want to be out of them now, hence the breakup.
