Actor Channing Tatum's nickname "Chanimal" did not pop out of nowhere -- it is, according to an interview with GQ, a moniker he earned rightly.

Although he has not been told why exactly he's been named "Channing," he knows why his mother calls him Chanimal.

"I would make a mess out of anything and climb anything. I feel really bad, now that I have a child and I know how hard it is. I've asked her since then, 'Was I a bad kid?' and she just gets this look on her face. 'You weren't bad, you were just really...busy.' If there was ever a biography of my mom, it would probably be Worried: The Life of Kay Tatum," he explained in GQ's June 2014 issue.

This is not the only revelation that Channing shared in the detailed interview. He also confessed that he likes his drink and he can "function" even when intoxicated.

"I'm probably a pretty high-functioning, I guess, you know, I would say, alcoholic, I guess," he said. "There's probably a tendency to escape. I equate it to creativity, and I definitely equate it to having a good time,' he said of how he feels when he drinks."

The Daily Mail noted that the actor said marrying his "longtime sweetheart" Jenna Dewan, whom he co-starred with in "Step Up" in 2006, didn't tone down his wild ways. He said that his wife "bought into" the fact that he loves to party.

However, he did admit he slowed down the partying after he became a father to daughter Everly, who turned one this month. He also commits not to drink during the shooting of the Magic Mike sequel.

Surprisingly, for a guy who loves his drink, Channing's alcoholic inclinations do not seem to show on his physique and in his performances. Here's hoping he won't let liquor get the better of him in the long run.
