A new pressure measure was launched by democrat legislators in the House of Representatives on Tuesday, March 15 with a memo in which they compiled Republican statements published by the media which show their intention to stop immigration reform.

The document quoted by Univisión compiles phrases said by Republican representatives who since June 2013 have suspended the bipartisan S744 law project approved by the Senate in favor of 11 million undocumented immigrants and the country's economy.

Among the phrases, one said by the Speaker of the House, Ohio Republican John Boehner, in which he acknowledges the urgency to approve immigration reform, and the possibility of finding a way to achieve it.

"I think that we should have adopted an integral proposal a long time ago... and I'm sure that President Obama and other colleagues from both parties and I can find some common ground to tend to this matter at once," the memo reads.

Democrats acknowledge Boehner's intention, but highlight his lack of commitment. As a solution, the document suggests to continue with a "discharge petition" measure presented on March to force a vote on the HR15 immigration law project.

"We know we have the votes to approve reform in the House: 200 congressmen, including three Republicans, have cosponsored the HR15 project. 30 other Republicans, among them Congressman Diaz-Balart and Congressman Ros-Lehtinen have expressed in favor of immigration reform," say Democrats in the memo.

Estimations made by the Congressional Budget Office show that if the project is approve, the US economy might reduce its deficit by $900 billion dollars.

The CBO points out that HR15, presented by Democrats in the Housem would manage to reduce deficit by billions in a 20-year period, with $200 billion saved in the first decade and $700 billion in the second.
