Paul Walker's younger brothers, Cody and Caleb, have joined the cast of the "Fast & Furious 7" to reprise the late actor's role, Brian 'O Conner.

The production team said in a statement posted via Facebook that the taping of the 7th installment of the "Fast and Furious" saga has resumed after it was suspended last December, following Paul Walker's untimely demise.

"We had to take time to grieve Paul, the brother we love and lost, and to figure out if we should move on with our film," the statement explained.

Walker, 40, died in a car crash in November last year, while doing a benefit for typhoon victims in the Philippines.

Universal Pictures confirmed that the movie, originally set for release on July 2014, will hit the box-office on April 2015.

Paul Walker had already shot most of his scenes for the movie before he died. Producers claim that his role in the "Fast & Furious 7" is "among the strongest work of his career."

Cody and Caleb, who have clear resemblances to Paul, will fill in the remaining action scenes and the small gaps left during the production. "Having them on set has made us all feel that Paul is with us too," the statement read.

As early as December, a source from the Daily Mail reported that Cody has been offered to play the role of his brother as the production needed someone that looked like the late actor to resume the shoot.

Cody Walker is a trained paramedic and previously worked as a stuntman. He currently heads his late brother's foundation.

According to the producers, Brian O'Conner's role will be reprised "to live on and celebrate Paul in his most defining role."

Paul Walker and his co-star Vin Diesel have been recently awarded Best On-Screen Duo at the MTV Movie Awards, an award they also shared in 2002. A teary-eyed Diesel thanked MTV in a Facebook video, for giving him and Walker the award in recogniton of their 12-year brotherhood.

"I wish he could see this. I know he's here in spirit," an emotional Vin Diesel said during his acceptance.

"Thank you for honoring me, and more importantly that angel, my brother Paul Walker," he ended.

The Hollywood Reporter earlier reported that Brian 'O Conner's role will retire after the movie.
