Universal Studios recently announced that a new attraction, the "The Fast & Furious - Supercharged" will be coming to its theme park in the near future, the New York Times reported.

"Supercharged", which is based on the "Fast & Furious" film series, is expected to be unveiled in 2015. It will be situated in Universal's iconic back-lot trams and will be encircled by 400-foot-long movie screens.

Chick Russel, an executive producer at Universal Creative said, "We're going to make it feel like those trams are being pulled through the streets at speeds of over 100 miles per hour."

According to Inside The Magic, "Supercharged" will be a 3D-HD thrill ride. Like in the movie, theme park guests will go up against criminal organizations together with cast members of the "Fast & Furious" franchise.

The website stated, "The story will put guests in the high-stakes underground world of fast cars, where their identity is exposed, join the cast in a harrowing escapade to save one of their own from an international crime cartel. The adventure will culminate with action sequences through the streets of Los Angeles, making guests feel they are traveling in excess of 120 miles per hour."

Unversal Creative's president, Mark Woodbury said, "We've embarked on a new medium of immersive entertainment that brings to life the characters, hyper-realistic action adventure and custom-made effects to transport guests into the exciting world of Fast & Furious."

He added, "Our collaboration with Universal Pictures to bring this franchise to life through epic storytelling and technology breakthroughs continues to be a hallmark of Universal Studios Hollywood."

However, Cinema Blend pointed out that with the arrival of a new ride, it could either mean that Universal Studios will expand its theme park or a less popular attraction will be removed. Since an expansion is too costly, it is highly possible that the "King Kong 360 3D" attraction from 2010 will be taken off the lot to make way for "Supercharged."
