With the MTV Video Music Awards just days away, many are wondering how well first-time VMA performers One Direction and Frank Ocean will perform. The network has made sure to promote both performers with specials and exclusive videos.

One Direction, "The X-Factor" born British boy band, received its own VMA special, entitled "My First Time." The half-hour show aired on August 30 and had the boys reliving several celebrities' first performances at the iconic award show. The band, which is nominated for three "Moonmen," also shared their thoughts and hope for their upcoming performance.

During the special, band member Niall said, "I'm really excited to add our name to the history books when we perform at this year's VMAs."

Singer Frank Ocean has recently been pushed into the limelight after admitting he was once in love with a man. Ocean, the singer/songwriter behind Channel Orange, will not only be performing at the VMAs for the first time but will have a chance to reach a much larger musical audience, MTV reported.

The VMAs, which will be hosted by comedian Kevin Hart, has confirmed a number of popular presenters including Miley Cyrus, the Wanted, Wiz Khalifa, Andy Samberg and the "Fierce Five," the gold medal winning U.S. Women's Olympics Gymnastics Team.

Musical performances at the award ceremony will include Green Day, Pink, Taylor Swift, Alicia Keys, and nominees One Direction, Rihanna and Frank Ocean.

The MTV Video Music Awards will air from Los Angeles on September 6, 2012 at 8 p.m. EST.
