A Superior Court in Los Angeles provided a strong setback to the mother of the late actor Paul Walker, by denying her the immediate custody of her granddaughter, Meadow Walker, 15, local media reported.

In late March, Cheryl Walker, mother of the late actor, requested the custody of Meadow Walker, her 15 year old granddaughter, since she says that her biological mother, Rebecca Soteros, suffers from severe alcoholism, according to entertainment website TMZ.

However, after the audience on Thursday, the commissioner of the Los Angeles Superior Court, David J. Cowan, assured that Walker's lawyers did not provide the additional documents required to explain a custody transfer.

"Why do you require temporal custody? What's the urgency?" Cowan wrote in the minutes of the audience, according to People.

According to the same source, Walker's lawyer told the magazine that he could not reveal details on the judge's order, while Rebecca Soteros did not reply to the magazine's call.

Despite this, sources close to the family told People that Cheryl Walker had reached an agreement with Soteros in which she could have the custody of Meadow as long as she went into rehab; however, this information has not been officially confirmed.

On the other hand, the judge's decision was emitted in such a manner that Paul Walker's mother will be able to request the custody of her granddaughter again, if she considers it relevant, according to The Toronto Sun.

Since Paul died in November of last year, Meadow has lived with her grandmother in California, according to TMZ, and it's been speculated that the teenager doesn't want to go back to live with her mom.

Walker tragically died in a car accident last November 30, 2013, when the 40-year-old actor and Roger Rodas, his financial advisor, were leaving a charity event for the victims of the Philippines typhoon.
