German Formula 1 pilot Michael Schumacher, who is still in a coma at the Grenoble hospital since last Dec. 29, has shown some progress and moments of consciousness recently, said his agent on Thursday.

Sabine Kehm, agent of the most successful Formula 1 champion, told the media that Schumacher has been in an induced coma for three months; however, doctors say there are possibilities he might recover due to the progress he's shown.

"Michael is progressing (...) He's showing moments of consciousness and waking up," said Kehm in a press release quoted by Reuters.

It's important to highlight that 45-year-old Schumacher has been in a stable but critical condition since he suffered a serious injury to his head in a skiing accident in the French Alps on Dec. 29, 2013.

In January of this year, doctors of the hospital in Grenoble, reduced the pilot's sedation in late Jan. in order to gradually wake him up from the induced coma, according to The Times.

"We're next to him during his long and difficult struggle, along with the staff at Grenoble hospital and we're still confident," said Kehm in the brief message released on Thursday.

"We would like to thank everyone for your continued sympathy. At the same time, we ask you to understand that we cannot reveal further details," asked the agent, quoted by the BBC.

Considered by many fans to be one of the best pilots in the world, Michael Schumacher managed to crown himself Formula 1 champion seven times, and during his long professional career conquered the podium 155 times.
