Eugenie Bouchard from Canada recently defeated American Venus Williams to garner a spot in the quarterfinals of the Family Circle Cup in Charleston. Bouchard finished with a 7-6(6), 2-6, 6-4 win over the former No. 1 seed on April 3, 2014. Bouchard rose from the junior ranks and is currently the No. 6 seed, writes Yahoo! Sports

According to The Globe and Mail, during the final set, the 20-year-old Canadian lost her serve and fell behind 2-1. However, she regained momentum and finished the match with a service break. The match lasted two hours and 14 minutes. Bouchard hit three aces while Williams hit 39 winners and 39 unforced errors. Bouchard also hit 26 winners and 31 unforced errors, as reported by CTV News.

Williams won over Bouchard in their last match in three sets. Bouchard shared that she mentally prepares herself and believes that she can win over the seven-time Grand Slam champion and wants to grab the opportunity to play with one of the best female tennis players in history.

She said, "It's always an opportunity for me to play someone I've watched on TV when I was younger and someone who's been No. 1 and such a great player." Bouchard added that Williams gave her the great game she was expecting and played at an amazing level. 

Venus Williams is the No. 11 seed and suffered from health problems in the past few years. Williams said that she committed a lot of errors and did not have the endurance she needed. During the match, she wanted to make the points shorter. She would either commit errors or her legs would not cooperate. She found the game very challenging. 

Based on a report by The Star, Bouchard's win puts her in the final eight and will face Jelena Jankovic of Serbia. Jankovic is the No. 2 seed and recently beat Ajla Tomljanovic to advance to the quarterfinals.
