The "Game of Thrones" cast graced the cover of the April issue of Vanity Fair, which is appropriate since the new season is slated to premier on HBO April 6.

In a report by Yahoo! News, contributing editor Jim Windolf had the opportunity to talk to George RR Martin, the author of the bestselling books where the series was based, and he told Windolf that he was alarmed at how fast the series is catching up to the books.

In Vanity Fair, show co-creator David Benioff said, "Last year we went out to Santa Fe for a week to sit down with him [Martin] and just talk through where things are going, because we don't know if we are going to catch up and where exactly that would be. If you know the ending, then you can lay the groundwork for it. And so we want to know how everything ends. We want to be able to set things up. So we just sat down with him and literally went through every character."

But then, Martin, who is still writing book six, admitted that not all pieces of the puzzle are in place, because he also said, "I can give them the broad strokes of what I intend to write, but the details aren't there yet. I'm hopeful that I can not let them catch up with me."

The next book in the series, "The Winds of Winter" still has no official release date, but The Hollywood Reporter  said that according to Jane Johnson, Martin's UK publisher, it will be released in 2015 at the earliest.

Benioff and co-creator DB Weiss would like to wrap the whole series up in seven or eight seasons. Weiss said, "It doesn't just keep on going because it can. I think the desire to milk more out of it is what would eventually kill it, if we gave in to that."

But fans, who have been waiting for months to see the next installment to the series, are probably green with envy, because the answer to the question of whether or not the president can get early screenings of the show, Benioff and Weiss jointly replied in an email to Windolf, which said, "One perk of being the most powerful man in the world: yes, you get to see episodes early."

For everyone else, Game of Thrones Season 4 will premiere April 6 at 9PM on HBO.
