One of the most exciting parts of the preparations for the World Cup is the unveiling of the uniforms and kits that will be worn. As with anything related to fashion there are always major duds involved. Here is a look at some of the worst World Cup uniforms being utilized at the upcoming tournament.

Group A

Mexico's alternate jersey: The all-red design follows along with the patterns of other nations that are emphasizing a two-color pattern. However, some nations have managed to make the jersey feel elegant and refreshing. Mexico's feels bland and tacky with its wave patterns.

Cameroon's yellow away jersey is elegant, but the team's green home jersey is a disaster. The patterns that litter the uniform are overdone, making this one of the worst jerseys in the entire tournament.

Group B

Spain may not have blue shorts to go along with its beautiful red uniforms, but the kit is striking and elegant overall. However, the team's away kit, which features black and neon is awful. Why did the team deviate from blue completely? The black and neon just does not suit Spain and is a horrid color clash.

Group C

Colombia's kit is a big miss overall. The traditional home yellow lacks the elegance of past kits due to the stripes and the drawings inside of the large stripe at the top; the sombrero comes off as cartoony. The red alternate kit is better, but lacks in dynamism mainly due to the dominance of red and the lack of any real contrasting colors.

Japan's kit is also a miss. The blue homes are decent, but the rays that pop out of the logo are rather lame and fail to add the intended dynamism. The red stripe along the back looks like someone just took a paintbrush and stroked the back a few times without any sense of proportions. However, the real miss is the neon alternates. The design is elegant, but the color is an eyesore. The "paint" pattern on the back is as equally revolting as it is on the original design.

Group D

Costa Rica's red jersey is the epitome of trying to do too much. The blue stripe across the middle of the uniform is awkward and the gold lines along the top are simply not prominent enough to add anything to the design. The alternate whites look bland and uninteresting, especially with the white shorts.

Group E

Switzerland's home and away kits are great, but one must make mention of the team's woeful goalie kit with its awkward green squares that dominate the uniform. That color clashes horribly against the dominant black.

Group F

Iran's white kit is rather bland overall due to a lack of a contrasting color. The only attempt at adding variety is a horrid red stripe along the top that looks out of place. The other red uniform has an abundance of gold lines and the image of a tiger along the lower left right hand corner that simply looks overdone.

Nigeria's home kit is a disastrous clashing of different greens. The away kit is better, but still has a poor prominence of green lines throughout that overburden the uniform.

Group G

Germany's kits are arguably the worst in the entire tournament. The home white would be beautiful if not for the woeful red "V" in the front that simply distracts an elegant design.

The alternate uniform, with red and black alternating stripes is a nightmare. It looks more like men's everyday shirts than it does like the soccer uniform of one of the best nations in the world. Imagine if Germany wins the World Cup wearing this?

Group H

Competing with Germany for the worst kit in the tournament is Belgium. The team keeps to its traditional colors but places a hokey crown shadow logo along the bottom that makes the uniform come off as a cartoonish. The black, yellow and red stripe on the opposite side of the team's crest is also a bad move as it makes the uniform sloppy and unbalanced.

Russia's alternate white and blue seems a bit odd in its design; the blue clashes with the red Adidas logo that is placed on white. The different shades of blue make it look sloppy overall.

What do you think are the worst kits being used at this year's World Cup?
