The Tribeca Film Festival has announced part of its 2014 lineup, releasing the competition slates for the Viewpoint, Narrative and Documentary films at the festival.

The Narrative competition has a total of 12 films from all over the world. Among the most anticipated is Keith Miller's second feature "Five Star." The director had a breakout hit last year with his Slamdance winner "Welcome to Pine Hill."

Lou Howe's first feature "Gabriel" is generating a lot of buzz particularly for lead actor Rory Culkin's performance. The film could be a major contender for the big award.

The world premiere of Angus MacLachlan's new film "Goodbye to All That" is also generating a lot of anticipation as the film stars Paul Schneider, Melanie Lynskey, Heather Graham, Anna Kamp, Amy Sedaris and Celia Weston.

A coming of age tale that finds two brothers venturing through the city in a sentimental search for an aging musician, "Gueros," the Mexican film by Alonso Ruizpalacios, will also premiere.

The latest comedy by Adam Rapp, "Loitering With Intent," could be a big hit as it makes its world premiere. The film stars Michael Godere, Ivan Marting, Marisa Tomei and Sam Rockwell.

America Ferrera is back at Tribeca with her latest film "X/Y." The movie directed by Ryan Piers Williams centers around four restless New Yorkers and also stars Melonie Diaz ("Fruitvale Station").

Highlights from the Viewpoint sections include "Pelo Malo" from Venezuela. The film directed by Mariana Rondon tells the story of a 9-year-old boy who wants nothing more than to straighten his unruly hair to look like a singer for his school photo.

The distribution company Tribeca films will also bring a couple of its films. Aaron Gaudet and Gita Pullapilly will premiere "Beneath the Harvest Sky" while Ireland's "The Bachelor Weekend" will have its U.S. premiere.

Tristan Patterson's "Electric Slide will makes its world premiere. The film tells the real-life story of Eddie Dodson, the notorious "Gentleman Bank Robber." The film stars Jim Sturgees, Chloe Sevigny and Patricia Arquette.

David Mackenzie's "Starred Up" will also make an appearance. The film premiered at the Toronto Film festival, scored rave reviews and was nominated for the British Independent Awards. Tribeca Films is slated to release the movie later this year.

Meanwhile, the Documentary slate will include "1971" about eight activists who plotted an intricate break-in into the local FBI offices to leak stolen documents and expose the illegal surveillance of ordinary Americans in an era of anti-war activism.

France will bring "Dior and I" to the competition. The film goes behind the scenes in the House of Christian Dior and a look at the creation of Raf Simons' first Dior Haute Couture collection as artistic director.

Puerto Rico will bring "Mala Mala," a film about the lives of transgender women, while Marshall Curry will bring his film "Point and Shoot" to the competition.

Another documentary on the list is the U.K. entry "Garnet's Gold" about Garnet Frost's experience when he nearly lost his life hiking near Scotland's Loch Arkaig.

The Tribeca Film Festival will continue to announce its film lineup in the coming weeks.
