"If it were all down to looks, Jennifer Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio would be the clear winners at the Oscars on Sunday," the Daily Mail mused.

And why is that? Certainly, Hollywood is not suffering from the lack of good-looking, talented actors.

However, this declaration by the British entertainment news publication was based on a "beauty poll of more than 1,000 Britons to find out who win in the looks department" by Escentual.com. The poll focused on actors who were nominated for an Academy Award this year.

J-Law won the poll by a huge margin over her closest contenders. She claimed 64.5% of the votes, a landslide win considering that the runner up, Amy Adams, only managed to get 17.7% of the votes.

Sandra Bullock came in third place with 6.5%, while Cate Blanchett and Lupita Nyong'o managed to get into the top 5 with a tie (4.8%). However, only 1.7% thought Julia Roberts was the most beautiful of the lot. Incidentally, all six actresses have been nominated for an Oscar this year.

Leonardo convinced 40.1% of the voters that he is the best looking among the male acting talents with his sleek and dapper style. The big possibility of him winning his first Oscar, after being nominated five times, also adds to his attractiveness.

Bradley Cooper earned 33.9% of the "best looking actor" votes, while Michael Fassbender got 7.9%. Matthew McConaughey came in fourth with 6.8%, while his 'Dallas Buyers Club' co-star Jared Leto got 5.7%. Sixth place went to Christian Bale, whose 'Batman' appeal failed to earn him more than 4.5% of the votes.

"So much of the Oscars this Sunday is going to be about the glamour and beauty on the red carpet and so we thought we would hold our own Oscars beauty awards before the night," a spokesperson for Escentual revealed.

"Jennifer Lawrence was unanimously chosen by both men and women as the run-away winner for most beautiful actress, but it was a bit more of an open field for the men. Nevertheless, Leonardo DiCaprio was a clear head in front of Bradley Cooper for the prize of being the UK's choice for Most Handsome Male."
