The fight between handset giants, Apple and Samsung, continues outside court rooms as both companies are about to make important announcements and unveilings.
Samsung is expected to unveil its Galaxy Note 2 at 1 p.m. EDT, Wednesday, August 29 (Watch Live Stream Here) while Apple is expected to announce the iPhone 5 on September 12 and launch it on September 21st.
The recent launching of new colors (Red, Brown, Grey Black) for Galaxy S3 devices have redirected consumer attention back to the Samsung flagship device while Apple's current flagship smartphone, the iPhone 4S received a price upgrade last week.
The 4S is being sold at $148 (contract) in Wal-Mart and in terms of pricing it may appeal well against its Galaxy S3 rival which is $50 more expensive at $199 (contract) in retailers.
When asked, the Latinos Post crew was divided with regards to which handset they preferred or would take.
Some regarded Siri as a key component for why they would choose the 4S while some explained the S3 to be a better phone not only due to its superior specs but also because of its larger screen.
Others refrained from answering saying that both phones should not be compared in the first place since they were in a league of their own.
The Inquirer, however, last month posted a review where it deemed the competition a tie noting that the Galaxy S3 would beat the 4S in most areas but the 4S simply remained more enjoyable on a day-to-day basis.
This writer found the Samsung Galaxy S3 to receive more favorable reviews from analysts and consumers while conducting his search and while most surveyed responded that they would choose an S3, among those who preferred the 4S, many responded size an issue. They though the S3 was a bit too big to pocket comfortably or use with one hand.
Another inevitable question that came up while conducting the survey is related to the iOS 6 which awaits its release date next month, reportedly.
The iOS 6 will be free for various products including the iPhone 4S (list of devices iOS 6 will support here) and while the iPhone 4S is a slower smartphone than the Galaxy S3, would an iPhone 4S with iOS 6 at $148 dollars appeal better to consumers?
Apple might even reduce the 4S's price to $99 dollars when it unveils the iPhone 5 the same way it did with the iPhone 4 when it launched the 4S almost one year ago.
If it is so, would a $99 iPhone 4S with Apple's latest mobile operating system appeal better to consumers?
Compared to the specs predicted for the iPhone 5 or the Samsung Galaxy S3, the upgraded 4S would still be a slower (but still faster than many others) and smaller phone, but for those who don't mind size & speed and believe $148 (or maybe less) is a good deal for owning one of the best selling iPhones loaded with Apple's newest iOS, it wouldn't be a bad deal at all.
