Patrick Dempsey is known to play Dr. McDreamy in 'Grey's Anatomy', and he just got even more dreamy when Architectural Digest put him on the cover of the March 2014 issue of their magazine.

Dempsey, his wife Jillian, and their three kids, 12-year-old daughter Talula, and 7-year-old twins Darby and Sullivan, all live in a charming but unique "tin house."

The actor told the magazine that "the exterior's simplicity appealed to me, and the inside felt very expansive and calming. Everywhere you looked there was something visually pleasing."

It is also eco-friendly, which makes sense as Dempsey, is known for his work and dedication in bringing affordable clean energy with the help of solar power to communities around the globe.

The Malibu retreat is designed by award-winning architect, Frank Gehry, who also designed the Walt Disney Concert Hall in downtown LA. According to Yahoo! Dempsey bought the 5,000 square foot property for $7 million back in 2010 and has since transformed it to fit his family's eco-friendly lifestyle.

In the search for the house that he and his family now calls home, Dempsey said, "We were looking for a little land and space, and a house with some architectural significance. The exterior's simplicity appealed to me, and the inside felt very expansive and calming. Everywhere you looked there was something visually pleasing."

Making the home their own, Dempsey and his family also added some changes, which included converting the former riding arena into a place where his wife can pursue organic gardening, and showing their love for animals by adding a small zoo with miniature donkeys, rabbits, goats, pigs, and a rescued African Tortoise. For sports, they also added a flat lawn where they can play soccer.
