New York musician Marc Anthony will be given the prestigious Excellence Award for his distinguished artistic trajectory during the annual gala for the Lo Nuestro Awards which will take place on Feb. 20, 2014, said the event's organizers on Tuesday.

Anthony, one of the most influential artists in the Latino music industry in the US, will receive the top award given out by the Lo Nuestro Awards in its 26th edition, which will be celebrated in the city of Miami and will be broadcast by Univisión.

With over 12 million albums sold around the world, the singer and salsa music composer will also compete in the categories of Album of the Year, Tropical Salsa Artist of the Year, Tropical Song of the Year and General Collaboration of the Year for his song "Por qué les Mientes" in the awards to the best of Latino music in the US, reported The Examiner on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

The "Boricua from Harlem", known for his contributions to international Latino music, is one of the artists that have gotten the most nominations in the history of the Lo Nuestro Awards, with a total of 28 nominations since 1994, when the awards began.

As every year, the Lo Nuestro Awards will dedicate their top award of the night to the artistic career of an influential Latino artist. In past editions, artists like Juan Luis Guerra, Juan Gabriel, Gloria Estefan, Vicente Fernández, Juanes, Chayanne and Ricky Martin have been given the award, according to People en Español.

The Lo Nuestro Awards will take place on Feb. 20, at 8:00 p.m., local time in the American Airlines Arena in Miami.
