Warner Bros. has released a new TV spot to the upcoming "300: Rise of An Empire."
The new trailer, entitled "Rage," is a Spanish-language teaser that features a number of action sequences. The sequences resemble the first film that was released in 2007.
The new film tells the story of Greek general Themistokles who leads the charge against invading Persian forces led by mortal-turned-god Xerxes and Artemisia, vengeful commander of the Persian navy.
The new film was directed by Noam Muro from a screenplay from Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad. The film stars Eva Green ("Casino Royale"), Sullivan Stapleton ("Gangster Squad"), Jack O'Connell ("Harry Brown"), and Lena Headey ("300").
The original "300" was a huge hit at the box office. The film made an outstanding $210 million domestically and $456 million worldwide. The movie, however, scored mixed reviews and obtained a 60 percent aggregate score on Rotten Tomatoes. David Fear of Time Out New York was one of the many critics that had problems with the film. He wrote, "As to this pumped-up spectacle's other aims, it's anybody's guess: selling gladiatorial chest-beating as beefcake erotica? Combining a movie and its own video-game spin-off into one package? Being both a dessert topping and a floor wax?"
Meanwhile, Mike LaSalle of the San Francisco Chronicle wrote, "Watching '300,' there's the arresting sense of eavesdropping on another time."
"300: Rise of An Empire" opens on March 7, 2014 and is rated R for strong sustained sequences of stylized bloody violence throughout, a sex scene, nudity and some language.
