For Seventeen Magazine's "Power" Issue, a revelation of this year's March cover girl Selena Gomez showed a side of her: that of an average, single woman having difficulty finding a boyfriend who can handle her.
Gomez has not had good luck when it comes to love the past years. After being with on- and off-boyfriend, Justin Bieber, for over two years, she has stayed single, with only rumors of new love sparking. As for Bieber, he is currently involved in another controversy again after getting arrested for DUI charges. The pop star has since been released on a $2,500 bail, said Daily Mail.
Referring to her heartbreak over her past relationship with Bieber, Gomez said, "This year is when I really started feeling powerful. I had always been the underdog secretly. I was on Disney when it was Miley [Cyrus], the Jonas Brothers, and Demi [Lovato]. I questioned the way I looked, acted, sang and wrote. Then I turned 20, went through a really bad breakup, and realized I needed to have 'Come & Get It' be amazing. I wanted it all to be me. I'm glad it's taken me this long to get where I am because now I am ready for it."
She also shared that she has found a new BFF-slash-older sister in Katy Perry. She even asks the pop superstar for boy advice.
"I actually talked to Katy Perry about guys who are intimidated by strong girls. I haven't found someone yet who could understand my lifestyle, support it, love me through it, and not be threatened by it. It's hard," the brunette beauty told the magazine, said E! Online.
Notably, it also appeared that Gomez has moved on after Bieber. After braving the press junket for her new movie "Rudderless" at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, People Magazine said Gomez was spotted with a young man who has shaggy blond hair and in a green sweater.
An onlooker told the magazine, "She went right up to him really early on in the evening."
Despite a clipped denial from Gomez's rep, Gomez appeared to be cozy with her male companion. People said they were spied chatting closely and sipping on cocktails, with Gomez casually placing her hands on her date's legs multiple times throughout the evening.
