Less than two weeks before the much-anticipated Super Bowl XLVIII, one of the biggest sporting events on U.S. soil might be pushed to an earlier or later date due to weather issues.

From Tuesday to Wednesday morning, the state of New York and New Jersey was hit with a massive snow storm, plunging the cities and its surrounding areas with thick blankets of snow and making transportation of equipment from NY to NJ impossible. This has escalated worries about the Super Bowl being on schedule,  Yahoo! Sports.

Pundits are now raising questions on whether Super Bowl XLVIII, which will be happening 11 days from now, will be rescheduled.

Jane Mcmanus of ESPNNewYork.com asked the league about any chances of Super Bowl getting pushed back to a day later. On Twitter, she claimed that a spokesperson on behalf of the league didn't want to comment. USA Today said NFL officials had already conceded to their contingency plans, which will have them having the championship game between January 31 to February 3 still at the MetLife Stadium, instead of February 2.

A Sports Illustrated report attempts to downplay the threat of the weather by rallying the fact that the snow on Super Bowl is nothing but a mere spectator in the football games.

"Weather and field conditions are a factor in every football game. Some fields are sloppy and others are fast. There is no standard condition for an NFL game. When you play the Saints in the Superdome, you understand that the fast track and windless environment helps Drew Brees and his receivers," wrote Michael Rosenberg.

This was also the same sentiment of NFL's vice president for business operations Eric Grubman, who said the championship game will be kicked off without a hitch. In a news conference at MetLife Stadium, USA Today said he told reporters,

"What goes into whether deciding to (move) it, first of all, is public safety. Unless it was a state of emergency which affected public resources in a way that made it impossible to get the resources here, or any kind of declaration by any of the authorities from the states involved that made it difficult to travel safety to and from the stadium, we would absolutely respect that."
