Is "Star Wars: Episode VII" set to start filming in May 2014? According to Metro, the film will enter production during that month.
Director J.J. Abrams recently revealed that the script had been finished and that he was intent on moving pre-production at a quick pace. The script was started back in 2012 with Michael Arndt taking up the duties as the writer. However, a few months back, Lucasfilm announced that Arndt would step aside to allow Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan the opportunity to revise the script. According to recent reports, Arndt's version focused on the next generation of heroes while Abrams' new version will give the characters of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa the chance to be the main heroes for one last time before passing the torch to the next generation for "Episode VIII" and "IX."
Of course, none of this has actually been confirmed. Abrams has remained tightlipped. The only confirmed character in the entire movie is reportedly R2D2.
If the film is slated to enter production in May, then casting news should be available in coming months, if not weeks, as the production would need to accommodate sufficient time to prepare the wardrobe and give actors the chance to train for their respective roles.
Among those rumored to play characters in the film are Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford, Michael Fassbender, Jesse Plemons and Hugo Weaving among others.
"Star Wars: Episode VII" is slated for a Dec. 18, 2015 release date.
