Gibrán David Martiz, a contestant for the relationship show "The Voice Mexico", who had been reported as missing since January 7, was found dead last Saturday along with a minor inside a vehicle, after a shootout between the police and criminals.

According to first reports from Proceso, the Attorney General of Veracruz, Amadeo Flores Espinoza, told the local media that state police were carrying out a patrol on the Huatuscos-Conejos highway when at around 10:00 p.m. they were alerted about armed individuals in the area.

On kilometer 98 of the highway, the policemen had a firefight against three armed individuals who were killed. Later, an inspection of the area revealed the presence of 22-years-old Martiz' body and that of a minor whose identity was not revealed to the media, but it is assumed it was a friend of the singer, according to CNN.

The same source reported that two stolen vehicles were secured in the area, which were stolen from Mexico City, four assault rifles, four handguns, four magazines, 105 bullets and two bags with approximately one kilo of marijuana.

"According to the first reports from forensic teams, the bodies belong to Gibrán David Martiz and another person whose identity is reserved due to law, who had been reported as missing since January 7," explained the state's General Attorney, Amadeo Flores Espinoza, quoted by People en Español.

The two young men were reported as kidnapped by their families on January 7, when a group of strongly armed men took them from their apartment in the city of Xalapa, Veracruz.
