The fifth day of the Sundance Film Festival saw the premiere of Richard Linklater's "Boyhood" and the Anne Hathaway film "Song One."

Linklater's latest film, starring Ethan Hawke and Patricia Arquette, was one of the most anticipated films because the movie was shot over 12 years. At the Sundance premiere the film scored great reviews. Todd McCarthy from the Hollywood Reporter wrote, "Richard Linklater's lovely look at childhood, filmed across 12 years as his actors grew and aged, has no precedent."

Peter Debruge from Variety also liked the film and wrote, "Twelve years in the making, Richard Linklater's coming-of-age tale serves as a time capsule of sorts."

"Boyhood" is expected to open later this year with IFC Films distributing.

"Song One" also premiered to sold-out screenings. However, the movie scored mixed reviews with Peter Debruge from Variety writing, "A year after Anne Hathaway earned her Oscar for live-singing, it is indie-rock co-star Johnny Flynn's turn to impress"

The Hollywood Reporter's David Rooney was less favorable and wrote, "An unplugged chamber piece with welcome restraint but too little substance."

"Song One" is still searching for a distributor, but with Hathaway's presence in the film, the movie should find a home by the end of the festival.

Meanwhile in the Sundance Market, A24 scored another purchase. The distributor took North American rights to "Obvious Child," which stars Gaby Hoffman and David Cross. According to Deadline, the movie was purchased for a low seven figures.

Fox Searchlight also acquired its first film of the festival. The distributor took North American rights to Mike Cahill's "I, Origins." According to Deadline, the film, which stars Michael Pitt and Brit Marling, was acquired for $3 million and will released in 2014.

The Sundance Film Festival is best known for discovering new filmmakers. Recent hits include "Beasts of the Southern Wild," "The Spectacular Now" and "Fruitvale Station.

The festival runs through Jan. 26.
