Janney "Chiquis" Rivera, the oldest daughter of the late Banda singer Jenni Rivera, has made her official debut as a singer with her first song "Paloma Blanca," a touching song in memory of her mother, "La Gran Señora."
Chiquis first announced her plans to break into singing as a solo artist in 2013. Her first song can be heard on her YouTube channel.
Before launching her first song, however, Chiquis had to overcome a year full of ups and downs, she told People en Español.
"It was an emotional rollercoaster," said Chiquis referring to a year filled with a series of difficult experiences that started in December 2012, with the sudden and tragic death of her mother in a plane crash in Mexico.
Co-written with Claudia Brant, "Paloma Blanca", Chiquis' first song, talks about those difficult moments and what her mother's unexpected death meant for her.

Despite Chiquis' fans expressing their unconditional support for her in her new role as a singer, comparisons between Chiquis and Jenni are inevitable.
Janney has said that she's ready to face these comparisons, telling People en Español that "Every verse comes from my heart, it's exactly what I feel."
