It's January once again so this means it's time for the annual Sundance Film Festival. So, to give you a preview, here are some of the most anticipated entries in this year's indie-film paradise event.

Boyhood

First stop is Richard Linklater's "Boyhood". This film generated media buzz due to its 12-year film production process. It follows the character of Mason as he goes on a journey with his sister Samantha. Deadline reports that the film was produced by shooting short films each year in the span of 12 years to chronicle the protagonist's transition from childhood to adulthood. The film stars Ethan Hawke, Patricia Arquette, Ellar Coltrane, and Lorelei Linklater and is scheduled to premiere on January 19.

Camp X-Ray

Camp X-Ray is another controversial entry that stars "Twilight" actress Kristen Stewart, and will premiere on January 17. According to Hollywood Reporter, she plays a prison guard stationed in Guantanamo Bay who befriends an inmate. Director Peter Sattler's vision for his film is not politically-charged but instead, serves as a look into the lives of guards and prisoners living under one roof.

Wish I Was Here

Next, we have "Scrubs" actor Zach Braff's entry, "Wish I was Here". As summarized by another article on Deadline, this film is about a middle-aged actor trying to search for the answer to the question, "What is the meaning of life?" It mixes comedic and dramatic elements as the film tackles the various emotions the protagonist is going through. The film, which premieres on January 18, was made possible through a Kickstarter campaign that raised more than $3 million, making it the first publicly-funded entry for a world premiere.

The Raid 2

Lastly, "The Raid 2" is the Indonesian sequel to the 2012 Sundance entry. ComicBook.com reports that this martial arts action film immediately follows the story of Rama, played by Iko Suwais, as he fights his way to defeat the Jakarta crime syndicate.  This entry will premiere on January 21.
