With the Oscar nominations being announced on Thursday, "12 Years a Slave" is expected to top the acting and directing nominations.

The Steve McQueen film is slated to get three nominations in the acting categories including Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. The film is also predicted to get nominated for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay.

Meanwhile, "American Hustle" could land a total of four acting nominations. Depending on how much the Academy likes David O. Russell's film, the movie could land nominations in all four acting categories. The Best Supporting Actress (Jennifer Lawrence) and Best Supporting Actor (Bradley Cooper) category are secure but Best Actress and Best Actor are still up for grabs. The movie is also slated to get a Best Director, Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay nominations.

"Gravity" will also get Best Picture, Best Director (Alfonso Cuaron), and Best Actress (Sandra Bullock) nominations.

"Captain Phillips" is also slated to get two acting nominations as well as a Directing nomination for Paul Greengrass. The movie will also get a Best Adapted Screenplay for Billy Ray.

Meanwhile, "Philomena" is expected to get Judi Dench a nomination but a Best Picture nod is still up in the air. Other films with Best Picture hopes are "Rush," "Saving Mr. Banks," "Blue Jasmine," and "Inside Llewyn Davis."

Meanwhile, Martin Scorsese's "The Wolf of Wall Street" is fighting for a Best Actor nomination for Leonardo DiCaprio and a Best Director nomination. The film will also hope for a Best Picture nomination.

The Academy Award nominations will be announced by Cheryl Isaacs Boone and Chris Hemsworth.
